Best of the Upper Cape 2022 Issue

This edition marks our fifth year of publishing the Best of the Upper Cape magazine, and with it we are bringing back our Best of the Upper Cape in-person event, thanks in part to our title sponsor, The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod. We feel it is an encouraging sign that our business community can once again gather to celebrate. Another summer season on Cape Cod has come and gone. Our aim in publishing Best of the Upper Cape and hosting the attendant event in October is to recognize the communities’ businesses when they have had a chance to breathe as the summer gives way to autumn.

Best of the Upper Cape may be written and designed by the staff at the Enterprise, but the results are those of our readers. We worked hard to keep a strict separation between the staff and the voting process to ensure that the winners in these pages won because our readership felt they deserved the recognition for a job well done.

A few notes on the organization of the magazine: Wherever possible, we tried to list all of a business’s location on the Upper Cape. In the interest of space, we made exceptions. Websites are listed with the homepage’s URL; we felt it didn’t do any good to have long strings of letters in a print magazine.

We hope you enjoy looking through these pages. So many on our staff worked hard to bring recognition to our local businesses, and we thank our readers for their votes.

Best of the Upper Cape 2021 Issue

Welcome to the Best of the Upper Cape, a showcase of our reader’s top picks of businesses, services and entertainment. In the pages that follow are the first three vote getters in 60 categories. We congratulate the winners, all of whom are deserving of the honors. It is not a simple task to make oneself stand out in a community that is as busy and competitive as the Upper Cape.

For our readers, this magazine is a guidebook. The guides in this case are hundred of residents who love the Cape and their communities and who were willing to share their opinions. No one person or small group in a cloistered office decided for others who and what is notable; it was a truly group effort.

This magazine is an insider’s guide to the best the Upper Cape has to offer. We know you will enjoy it.

Best of the Upper Cape 2018 Issue

For a number of years I resisted the idea of publishing a best of the Upper Cape edition. I had seen other publishers do them and suspected that the results were cooked, skewed in the favor of the best advertising customers.

This year the staff changed my mind. They said will survey readers on their favorites in some 60 categories and keep the results, they said. Only one person in the editorial department would keep the responses and only three people from the entire staff would tally the results.

I said let’s do it and I’m glad I did.

For years the Enterprise has published supplements that highlights the best of Cape Cod-its history, beaches, scenes, cultural events and things to do. For many years we published the Mailaway edition. The name reflected an effort, a very successful one, to encourage subscribers to give us names and addresses of friends and relatives who would like to read about the Cape. When the Mailaway ran its course, we turned the idea into Cape Cod In Season in the 1990s.

All those years we decided among ourselves what was best about the Cape. Being Cape Codders ourselves, we didn’t do such a shabby job of it.

But this year it was you, our readers, who decided what is best about the Upper Cape. It is truly an insiders’ guide.

The Best of the Upper Cape will be a great resource for friends and visitors from off-Cape, but it will be insightful to residents as well. How many of us have lived here for years but tried something new only when someone else suggested it?

There are in these pages hundreds of suggestions of the best place to dine out and shop. It tells of the readers’ favorites in 67 categories.

It will guide residents and visitors alike to the best the Cape has to offer.
