Elegant and intimate, the Glass Onion, located in the Queens Buyway in Falmouth, offers diners a top-notch experience with dishes that defy expectations. Pan-seared Long Island duck breast or prosciutto-wrapped dayboat haddock grace a menu of lovingly crafted fare.
During the early evening the large windows let in the ambient light; later in the evening the lighting is low and candles on each table add to the ambiance. The servers are attentive, but not intrusive, allowing for flow of conversation without interruption. The relaxed Cape Cod atmosphere complements food that receives rave reviews.
The menu changes but has included locally produced items like Coonamessett Farm salad greens and Barnstable oysters as appetizers, while other popular ways to start the meal are lobster strudel and duck vol-au-vent.
A large, well-appointed wine list and crafty cocktails pair well with any dish served.
In case you did not make a reservation and need to wait a bit for seating, there is an enclosed porch with chairs and a cushioned bench.
The Glass Onion is open Tuesday through Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday. Reservations are encouraged as the restaurant is typically in high demand, especially during tourist season.
