When most of us think about fried clams, our first impulse is to head out to the closest clam shack and dig in. The Flying Bridge on Falmouth Harbor is no clam shack—it can host an intimate dinner for two or a wedding party of 200—but it delivers one of the best plates of fried clams on this side of the Cape Cod Canal.

Fresh, sweet, whole-belly clams are lightly battered and fried to perfection. Served with tartar sauce, fries and cole slaw (or something from the ample sides menu), they are winning new fans every day.

“There’s nowhere better for full-bellied fried clams, likely nowhere better on the Cape,” wrote one reviewer. “If you can combine a lunch on the harbor side of the restaurant with a sunny day and a platter of clams, you will be one happy person.”

In 2023 the Flying Bridge changed hands. Following the death of legendary owner/operator William Zammer in 2021, his wife and business partner, Linda Zammer, sold the restaurant to Longfellow Design Build founder Mark R. Bogosian. Mr. Bogosian is currently in the process of transforming this classic Cape favorite into a next-generation restaurant.

And no worries; fried clams remain on the menu.
