Old Silver Beach

Quaker Road, North Falmouth

An expansive stretch of sand leading to the warm, clear waters of Buzzards Bay propels Old Silver Beach to the top spot. Whether it’s swimming or lying in the sun or searching for sea life, this beach has it all.

Located in North Falmouth, just a short drive from the highway, Old Silver provides an excellent vista and a fabulous sandbar that extends a good distance offshore, making the water great for kids. Rocks at the southern end of the beach provide a spot to explore for crabs and periwinkles for the curious kiddies.

The well-appointed snack bar provides needed midday refreshment and behind that are showers and bathrooms, an upgrade from the portable restrooms at some of the smaller beaches. Like several other local beaches, Old Silver offers group swimming lessons during the week at affordable prices.

Old Silver is one town beach that allows for out-of-towners or locals without beach stickers to pay for parking, which is a reason it is a favorite of so many. Even with the large parking lot, the beach is usually packed, though with no sticker required after 5 PM and the crowds usually having dissipated, it is hard to beat the second shift at Old Silver during the summer.
